Greetings Coaches, Athletes, Guides and Volunteers

Jennifer Demby, Blind Athletes Inc., Director of Sports
Jennifer | Director of Sports

Congratulations to our Blind Athletes Inc sports club teams for all their hard work and successful efforts produced thus far this year! It has been a difficult journey with the recent passing of our Co-Founder and Coach, Amo Musharraf; but in his memory of enthusiasm, joy and happiness for sports, we continue to move forward and find inner strength and peace to encourage each other.  In track & field our Fillies welcomed new athletes, motivated their teammates, improved some personal bests, earned medals and achieved some national event records!  Our NJ Lightning beep baseball team also welcomed several new players and pitchers, motivated their teammates, gained a lot of competition experience and ended the season with a win!  For most of you this was your first time ever participating in a new and unfamiliar sport.  Many thanks to our athletes, guides, coaches and volunteers who contributed to making these sporting events a success!

As the Summer fades and the Fall/Winter season begins, we embark into our Race Walking / Running season which includes 5K’s, an 8K, 10K and a ½ marathon.  All are welcome to come and join our Sky Walkers and Fillies teams. Our first 5K will be in two weeks on Saturday, September 15th at Buccleuch Park in New Brunswick, NJ.  Details of this race and others are noted below.  This will also be a special race day for us as this was a race chosen by our late Coach Amo that took place at his favorite park for the last two years. September 15th is also a global event – Usher Syndrome Awareness Day (a rare genetic disorder of which he battled). We celebrate his memory and will participate in this race in his honor.
